Being an intern at Pioneer Consulting Asia-pacific has immersed me in a highly enriching work experience having serviced top players in the telco industry. Having conducted research on emerging market segments and drawing insights from them, it felt fulfilling to play a role in shaping the plans of our clients. This internship tested both my analytical skills and creativity to ensure that data-driven, yet innovative ideas are reflected in my outputs.

My internship experience with Pioneer Consulting Asia-Pacific was great. It was my first consulting internship, and I learned a lot about the process, working with a project team, communicating with colleagues, and presenting. Something that stood out for me was the ability to work on slide decks that would actually be presented to the client. It was a gratifying experience and something I didn’t expect to do. The team was also extremely helpful and gave me a lot of valuable feedback. While there were a few learning curves, I can confidently say that my research skills, public speaking skills, and attention to detail have improved. I will definitely apply these learnings to my future endeavors and am extremely grateful to have had this opportunity.

My internship at PCA was a huge learning experience for me. Not only did I expand my knowledge base, especially in terms of the upcoming digital trends, but also improved on different skillsets including my research and presentation skills. Additionally, there is a lot of trust given to interns in terms of the preparation of deliverables and this pushes us to think beyond what is needed. Thus, I was able to think more analytically to complete the deliverables. The team was extremely supportive and encouraging and would provide constructive feedback, allowing me to improve my working standards. This was my first internship, and I was really impressed with the support I got from the whole team. I was looking for a role where I could make my own decisions and work on my own and I was very satisfied to find that this role allowed that. Since this was my first professional work experience, I was extremely nervous coming into it. However, the culture of support within the team made me feel welcome. My supervisors took the time to sit with me through multiple iterations of my work to help me get used to everything which really helped me ease into my role at PCA. I was also taught how to think like a consultant, which helped me develop my skills and enhance the quality of my output. I learned a lot about consulting and various digital service industries, and I’ll be taking this newfound knowledge and experience with me as I move forward in my career.

​It was a great experience, particularly because at a boutique firm there isn’t any red tape or bureaucratic processes that I needed to spend time on – this allowed me to experience a lot of different projects, and do hands-on work on different areas and subjects. Seeing the final product of my work was very satisfying, especially when it was used in an actual presentation.

I had a pretty good experience at Pioneer – I could better see and understand why I was doing certain things as compared to my previous internships where the purpose wasn’t as clear to me. In terms of mentorship, there was a good balance – at the start I received more guidance as I was still new, but I got a lot of autonomy when I gained more experience – this was great as it allowed me to learn to structure and frame my own work. I particularly liked the research and strategy development part of things - discovering new insights and thinking about what that potentially means for our clients in the terms of their strategy.

I interned with Pioneer consulting Asia in the summer of 2019. I had a really enriching and enlightening experience working at the company. This internship allowed me to improve on my analytical skills and I gained much more knowledge and insight into the field of management consulting. Moreover, I also had amazing supervisors who were always willing to guide me and help me improve every single day at work. I was assigned to really interesting real-life projects which gave me a very good understanding of the OTT and the media industry in the Asia region. This internship was a very hands-on experience. I gained extensive knowledge in conducting market research via drafting and distributing surveys while satisfying client’s requirements and company’s budget. Analysing and graphing data into a statistics report allowed me to learn to analyse large sets of data as well as made me competent in using the new software MarketSight. The supervisors I worked with provided almost-instant feedback as well as great insights into helping me do my job more efficiently.

I worked as an intern in Pioneer Consulting Asia in the Summer break of my Second Year as an Undergraduate student at SMU and had a wonderful experience. This was one of my first internships and I could not have hoped for a better learning opportunity. Working in a small team gave me the chance to get involved with different projects from the first day. Virat and David were both very approachable and were always willing to assist and give career advice.
